Game Melody Oratorio Volume Two

Game Melody Oratorio Volume Two teaches more simple game melodies via a virtual piano. Featured melodies are Outrun (Sega), Duck Tales (Capcom), Dr. Mario (Nintendo), Super Castlevania VI (Konami), Streets of Rage 2 (Sega), Double Dragon (Technos), Metal Gear Solid (Konami), Final Fantasy VII (Square), Leisure Suit Larry (Sierra On-Line) and Halo (Microsoft).

Read the readme.txt for more information.

Requires a DS (obviously) and a flash cart, such as a R4. The game will create a save file called "gmo2_sav.sav" on your flash cart. Works well in DeSmuME, except for saving.

    Peanutbutter,

Thank you sir, for coming back!

another note is there a way you could make a open mode were u could just play on the keyboard or maybe some classics like chopsticks, heart and soul, and mary had a little lamb.

    Peanutbutter,

There already is a "free play" mode. It's on Page 2 of the Melody Select screens, middle button on the bottom row (next to the Halo button).

    Verythrax says:

Please, you could add an option to both games so that the player can choose to read the music tab

    Verythrax says:

Oh, and an option ti replay a stage would be great, too! Instead of "Stage completed, touch to continue", it could have 2 buttons: "continue" and "replay stage"

That's me AGAIN. A bug report this time: sometimes OutRun and Ducktales (I didn't tried other music yet) consider that you are click 2 notes (in different parts of the keyboard) at same time (like playing with 2 hands in real life :p) in recital mode. It usually occurs if you try a musci in recital without try the pratice of that music right before (I think).

    I'm using Supercard lite micro.

    I hope it helps.

    Adriano,

Thanks for your comments and suggestions. I'll keep them in mind.

As for the bug you reported, it's actually meant to be a hint. You press the wrong key, and the correct key lights up briefly. I may need to explain that in the readme or something.

Doh! Im sorry didn't even check out all the new songs thanks again this is a great homebrew.

    Great work again ;)
Waiting for the next volume ^_^

I'm quite impressed with the software, both volumes. It's quality work and looks professional.

An addition I'd like to see would be the ability to stop playback of a song (in the menu's preview, for instance) so that you don't have to listen to the whole thing if you mis-clicked. Maybe just a touch-to-stop action.

As one of those ideas people come up with that you have to say "How about no"... maybe a sheet music viewer with a little arrow beneath the next note. (Perhaps as an alternate step 3/4 in the practice.)

Other song suggestions for a volume three: Underwater theme from SMB/title screen from SMB2, Underground theme from SMB, any of the good Kirby themes, Ghosts & Goblins (might not fit the two 8va range), Wizards & Warriors title screen, Marble Madness, Kid Icarus main title or level 1 (also might not fit the two octave range).

    maple,

Thanks for your comments and suggestions. I'll keep them in mind should I start on a GMO Vol 3 :)

my m3 ds real isnt loadin this homebrew, any ideas why?

    Anonymous says:

What happens? You try to load it and it just stays on a black screen? Do you see the initial text screen, where it shows saving options?

In any case, I have no idea. Sorry.

Works very nicely from a Datel Games 'n' Music card. The Outrun theme brings back some memories :)

    Nirror says:

You know how you could change octaves in
    The Legend of Zelda:The Windwaker.
    (Control Pad, GMO3 perhaps?)

    Nirror says:

    Bug in GMO Vol. 2
    After using Recital Mode,
all sheet music has a black background.
And the tiles for the notes aren't quite right.

    Nirror,

Thanks for your comments and bug report. I don't really work on GMO anymore, but it's good to know that people are still using it! :)

Please continue with it, yours was the only piano emulator for DS that was good enough to be considered proudly distributable
It's up there with the very best in
    DS Homebrew achievements,
    Meteora class at least.

If you won't work on it further,
    would you release the source,
    please...
